Which SDHC Memory Card for Kodak PlaySport?
After purchasing my Kodak PlaySport video camera I found out that I would have to invest in an SD or SDHC memory card. I thought it would be easy to pick an SDHC card but I was wrong. There are many different cards available and based on customer comments not all SDHC cards work well with the Kodak PlaySport camera.
There seems to be a lot of discussion on what class memory card works best with the camera, and whether or not the camera supports the highest class available. Unfortunately I couldn't find an exact answer to that question. I did however buy a class 6 SDHC memory card that is reasonably priced and received postive reviews from other Kodak PlaySport owners.
"Class" refers to minimum sustained Data Transfer Rate (DTR) of the card. Class 6 = minimum DTR of 6 MB/second.
The SDHC card I purchased is the Kingston 8 GB Class 6 SDHC Flash Memory Card. Since then I've recorded videos in all recording modes, including 1080p without a single problem. This card is also available in 16GB and 32GB as well as the 8GB model I purchased.
I chose the 8GB card primarily because it was within my budget and I wanted to make sure it would work with my camera. Now that I know that it does work with my PlaySport camera, I will consider spending a little more on the 16GB or 32GB Kingston card in the future.
